Euroleague Playoffs: Il Fenerbahçe sbanca l’OAKA, il CSKA batte il Baskonia
Inizia lo spettacolo dei Playoffs della Turkish Airlines Euroleague e già dalla prima giornata non sono mancati spettacolo, emozioni forti e sorprese. I campioni in carica del CSKA hanno fatto più fatica del previsto a rispettare il pronostico ed avere la meglio su un combattivo Baskonia, mentre il Fenerbahçe ha espugnato la fortezza del Panathinaikos al termine di una strana partita dai tre volti. Due stili di pallacanestro diversi da una partita all’altra, con lo spettacolo offensivo a farla da padrone in Russia e nervi e difesa a condizionare il duello tra Xavi Pascual e Zeljko Obradovic all’OAKA di Atene.
CSKA MOSCOW-BASKONIA 98-90
Il CSKA ha collocato il primo mattone nella strada per ripetere il titolo conquistato l’anno scorso. La compagine allenata da Dimitris Itoudis ha infatti avuto la meglio su un bel Baskonia imponendosi 98-90 al termine di una sfida prettamente offensiva e che ha visto gli ospiti, senza assolutamente nulla da perdere, farsi avanti nell’elettronico un paio di volte, ed uscire sconfitti solo per mancanza di mira negli ultimi due decisivi minuti, mentre a Milos Teodosic e Nando De Colo non ha tremato la mano quando il pallone scottava di più.
La compagine russa era partita subito meglio, chiudendo il primo quarto avanti 26-19, ma nel secondo parziale i baschi di Sito Alonso erano riusciti a rimontare ed andare negli spogliatoi con il -4 (40-44). Il CSKA metteva a segno un terzo parziale molto serio, tornando a distanziare i rivali (72-62 dopo 30 minuti), ma un Baskonia mai domo ci ha provato fino alla fine a mettere in difficoltà i campioni uscenti, portandosi in vantaggio quando mancavano 3 minuti alla fine dell’incotro grazie a due tiri liberi di Chase Budinger e mantenendosi avanti fino all’88-90 quando mancavano 2’08”. Poi blackout totale. Negli ultimi 2 minuti della sfida ha segnato solo il CSKA, facendo sua la sfida e portandosi avanti 1-0 nella serie.

Importantissima vittoria del Fenerbahçe di Gigi Datome in trasferta contro il Panathinaikos di Atene per 58-71 al termine di una sfida che ha visto tre importanti cambiamenti di fronte e che alla fine ha permesso agli uomini di Zeljko Obradovic di assaltare il palazzetto più inespugnbile d’Europa e recuperare il fattore campo nell’eliminatoria.
I turchi erano partiti meglio, mettendo a segno diverse triple consecutive con Nikola Kalinic e Bogdan Bogdanovic e con Jan Vesely volando sotto canestro, ma i padroni di casa, ispirati da Nick Calathes e Chris Singleton, si erano rifatti sotto chiudendo il primo quarto sul -1 (15-16). Nei secondi dieci minuti c’era stata solo una squadra in campo: il Panathinaikos di Xavi Pascual, capace di mettere a segno un parziale di 27-12 ed andare all’intervallo avanti 42-28. Non sappiamo esattamente cosa possa aver detto/fatto il carismatico Obradovic negli spogliatoi, ma la sua squadra dopo la pausa sembrava un’altra, e con una seconda parte magistrale (parziali di 8-20 nel terzo quarto e 8-23 nell’ultimo) ribaltava nuovamente la situazione, dando alla fine una vittoria facile ai gialloblù.
Bogdan Bogdanovic è stato l’autentico MVP della sfida grazie a una splendida partita con 5/6 in triple, mentre Gigi Datome, influenzato dai falli, ha messo a segno 3 punti (una tripla), 2 rimbalzi e un assist in 16 minuti.
